Quotes...

"Spirituality is not to be learned in flight from the world, by fleeing from things to a place of solitude; rather, you must learn to maintain an inner solitude regardless of where you are or who you are with. You must learn to penetrate things and find God there." - Meister Eckhart -

Somewhere To Belong

Here's a message sent out by the Secretary of the Navy to all those who serve this country.

1. TODAY AS WE CELEBRATE THE 230TH BIRTHDAY OF THE UNITED STATES, LET US REMEMBER THE PATRIOTS WHO PLEDGED THEIR LIVES, THEIR FORTUNES, AND THEIR SACRED HONOR TO THE CAUSE OF FREEDOM. THE IDEALS AS SET FORTH IN THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE CONTINUE TO GUIDE US, AND THEY CONTINUE TO SERVE AS AN INSPIRATION TO THE MILLIONS OF PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD WHO YEARN TO BE FREE.

2. OUR INDEPENDENCE, OUR LIBERTIES, AND THE RIGHT TO DECIDE OUR OWN FATE WERE WON BY THE FORCE OF ARMS AND THE BLOOD OF PATRIOTS MORE THAN TWO CENTURIES AGO. ETERNAL VIGILANCE IS THE PRICE OF LIBERTY, AND YOUR COURAGE IS THE ULTIMATE GUARDIAN OF THE FREEDOMS WE CHERISH.

3. WHILE SOME OF US MARK INDEPENDENCE DAY WITH BARBECUES, FAMILY GATHERINGS, AND A DAY OF WELL-DESERVED REST, MANY OF OUR FELLOW SAILORS AND MARINES REMAIN ON WATCH, AT HOME AND OVERSEAS, CARRYING OUT THEIR DUTIES IN THE LONG TRADITION OF PATRIOTIC DEVOTION IN DEFENSE OF OUR GREAT NATION. I SALUTE EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU FOR YOUR SACRIFICE AND SERVICE, AND I EXTEND MY SINCERE THANKS TO YOUR FAMILIES AS WELL, WHOSE STRONG SUPPORT IS CRUCIAL TO SUCCESS. YOUR DEDICATION TO DUTY MAKES OUR FREEDOM POSSIBLE, AND THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE GRATEFUL FOR YOUR NOBLE EFFORTS IN KEEPING OUR COUNTRY SAFE, PARTICULARLY NOW DURING THIS TIME OF PERIL. YOU DO US PROUD, AND I AM HONORED TO SERVE YOU AS YOUR SECRETARY. MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR LOVED ONES.

Messages like this would definitely make me proud to be serving in the military - if I was in the military.

How about our friends?
The friends we work with.
The friends we serve with.

Should we not strive to create that same feeling of sense of belonging and family to those with whom we serve, work, and live?

Community

Americans' circle of close friends shrinking

According to this article...
"Americans are more socially isolated than they were 20 years ago, separated by work, commuting and the single life, researchers reported on Friday."

Duh!
We're a society of people who don't like to sit next to other people, engage in a conversation with strangers, very particular about our personal-space, and so focused on "obtaining the American dream!"

Isn't it about time we all re-evaluate what's important in life?

L.I.F.E.

High on Life.

It's been a while since I've felt this way.
I've had some high moments in life, but this is different.
There is something..... magical about this time around. Perhaps spiritual.
Realization. Motivation.
High on life.

I've been blessed to have met such a people. Yes, I said, "such a people."
I absolutely LOVE some people I've come to know in the past year.
(Sorry... I can't reveal any names, for consideration of stirring disappointments in others)
Wonder if they know truly how much I appreciate them?
I really ought to let them know...

Jesus loves me. This I know.
Not because the bible tells me so.
Because He reveals His love through others -- those He has allowed for me to encounter in my walk. This journey we call L.I.F.E.

Someone sees me.
That's all I ask.
Thank you, my friend. Thank You.

---------------------------

On a separate note:

Ugh! What am I doin' ?

Sorry... This pic was too good not to put it on

Noelle is the name of the girl who took this pic for us. She's so cute!

Understand

Funny.
Of all the people, Helen understands me at this moment in time.

Weird how God sends the right people along your path just when you're in need of them.
...even though you didn't think they'd turn out to be the ones who'll understand.

Let's keep on charging through.
I'll pray for your team, Helen. And for you.
Let's do this right.
May God be the glory.

When?

When do you stop believing in love?
At what point in your life do you stop believing that love could exist here. now.
Is it when you see so many relationships being broken?
Is it when you see failed marriages?
Is it when you experience a failed marriage?
When do you stop believing in love?

Is it when you - despite how comfortable and confident you are with yourself - realize that you just don't measure up?
Is it when you realize - no matter how much you pour in - at the end of the day the jar is still empty?
When do you stop hoping for love?

I want to run up a hill.
I want to climb a mountain.
I want to kick, punch, and beat the crap out of a heavy bag.
I want to go.
When do you accept that love doesn't exist here?
